Mississauga is one of the most populous cities in Canada. It is the sixth largest city in the Greater Toronto Area, and the third largest in the province of Ontario. Mississauga is a major suburb of Toronto, and is bordered by the city of Toronto to the east and south, and by the regions of Peel and Halton to the west and north. Mississauga was incorporated as a city on May 20th, 1968, as a result of the amalgamation of several villages including Port Credit, Streetsville and Cooksville. The city has a population of over 721,599 as of the 2016 Census, and is Canada’s sixth-most populous municipality. Mississauga is home to Toronto Pearson International Airport, Canada’s busiest airport, as well as the headquarters of many Canadian and multinational corporations.
